I&Y Completes Musco Retrofit at McGuffey HS

When an athletic field or stadium has an existing lighting system that they want to upgrade, there are two options; demo and replace OR retrofit.  McGuffey High School in Claysville, PA chose to retrofit their stadium with a new Musco LED Sports Lighting System using their existing poles.

I&Y Construction had to remove the old existing fixtures from the poles and replace them with new Musco LED Fixtures.  In addition, we upgraded the electrical system from (2) 200 AMP fused disconnects to a single 400 AMP breaker panel and installed a Musco contactor cabinet in an outdoor enclosure.  To accommodate the new enclosure, we formed and poured an extension to the existing concrete pad.

The changes to McGuffey HS stadium came as the result of a student led campaign for improvements to their field.  In addition to the new Musco Sports Lighting System, the stadium got a new scoreboard and a custom 2-toned gray field which was installed by Field Turf.  When asked about the turf, Field Turf said that it is “one of the most unique installations ever completed.”  When illuminated, the new Musco LED lights show off the beauty of this stadium project.
