Gettysburg College Shirk Field
I&Y Construction got the poles in the air for Gettysburg College’s Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium. The sports lighting project involved (4) pole foundations and assembling and erecting (2) 90′ and (2) 100′ MUSCO Sports Lighting steel poles with crossarms and LED sports lighting fixtures.
Dedicated in September 1965 with a ceremony attended by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, Musselman Stadium is the home to Gettysburg field hockey, football, men’s lacrosse, and men’s and women’s outdoor track & field. In September 2003, Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium was converted from natural grass to AstroPlay, a state-of-the-art in-fill synthetic grass surface. The renovation was made possible through the generosity of Dick Shirk ’67, for whom the field is named.
