I&Y Construction Helps Illuminate Lafayette College’s Wallach Lacrosse Stadium at the Metzgar Fields Complex with MUSCO LED Sports Lighting

I&Y Construction was proud to partner with MUSCO Sports Lighting on a major lighting installation at Lafayette College’s Wallach Lacrosse Stadium, further enhancing one of the region’s premier collegiate athletic facilities.

As part of a multi-phase modernization effort across Lafayette’s athletic complex, I&Y Construction completed a stadium sports lighting – “pole in the air” project with MUSCO’s advanced TLC for LED Sports™ lighting system.

I&Y Construction’s involvement at Metzgar began months earlier in October of 2024, the team drilled and installed four foundations.   On February 26, 2025, I&Y completed the Pole-in-Air project by erecting the four 70-foot MUSCO poles, adding another layer of capability and consistency to Lafayette’s expanding athletics infrastructure.

This pole in the air sports lighting project represents another step forward in Lafayette College’s investment in both performance and sustainability. The new LED system offers dramatically improved lighting quality, reduced energy consumption, and lower maintenance costs—ensuring consistent visibility for athletes and spectators alike while minimizing environmental impact.

A Proud Tradition at Metzgar Fields

The Metzgar Fields Athletic Complex in Forks Township has long been a cornerstone of Lafayette’s athletic tradition. Established in the 1960s, Metzgar has served as the training and competition home for many of the college’s Division I programs. Its legacy grew even stronger in 2024 with the opening of the Wallach Sports Performance and Lacrosse Center, a $10 million facility that underscores Lafayette’s continued commitment to athletic excellence.

During the dedication ceremony, Director of Athletics Sherryta Freeman reflected on the facility’s impact:

“This isn’t just a facility. It is a symbol of belief, a visual testament to the commitment to our student-athletes and the vision for our athletic programs. The Wallach Sports Performance and Lacrosse Center gives our student-athletes a place where they will find their strength and build a legacy.”

The newly installed lighting complements this vision—extending the usable hours of the field and enhancing the training experience for Lafayette’s lacrosse athletes.
